How easy is it to install solar with Mooncrest?

Switch to solar in 4 steps:

1) We will set up a free initial virtual consultation session with one of our product specialists. Here you will share pictures or a video of your roof, and provide us with information on the sizing, location, and angle of your roof.

2) Mooncrest will then provide you with a personalised quote for your solar PV system and arrange for an installation date for your order.

3) Once installed, turn on the switch to renewable energy in your home.

4) Mooncrest will provide ongoing maintenance support – and outline your energy savings through annual reports.

How much can I save by installing solar panels?

Given recent solar and battery technological advancements, consumers can save up to 80% on their energy bills. As energy bills continue to climb, these savings become more substantial and lead to a quicker pay-back time (or return on investment).

Do you require sunlight?

Solar panels operate in daylight instead of sunlight. So even on a cloudy winter day, you will generate electricity – although we try to avoid the shade.

How do I maintain my system?

We will provide annual performance checks on your system to ensure it performs as expected. We are here to partner with you for the long term.

Do I need planning permission?

Domestic solar panel installations are ‘permitted developments’ and don’t require planning permission, but homes in conservation areas may require council approval.

Can I sell my excess energy?

Excess energy can be sold back via the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). SEG was introduced to replace the old Feed-In-Tariff, this allows households to sell their energy back to the grid and help fund the investment, export payments are currently up to 0.055p per kwh – although rates can vary.

Should I consider batteries?
Mooncrest advises customers on purchasing solar panels with batteries, to optimise the productivity of your system, allowing you to maximise your energy usage, at all times of the day.

What are the different types of solar panels?

1) Monocrystalline: these have a higher efficiency rate in generating electricity from light and are a more space-efficient solution.

2) Multicrystalline: is simpler to produce and offers the most cost-efficient and versatile option.

Mooncrest prioritises product performance, and thereby only sells monocrystalline panels.
